BRUNNER Leads Building Technology and Innovation Discussion at HIVE Conference
Chief Digital Officer Rick Gardinier shares expertise on innovation with industry leaders

Pittsburgh, PA (December 13, 2017) – How can builders become more innovative? What technologies will emerge that will forever change the industry? How will the industry solve the chronic labor shortage? At the 2017 HIVE for Housing conference, BRUNNER joined thought leaders like Steve Case, Chip Conley, Eve Picker and others from outside the building industry to help the hundreds of builders, designers, and architects better understand how other industries innovate.

BRUNNER’s Chief Digital Officer, Rick Gardinier, moderated the “Building Technology” panel which included panelists Wade Tennant, Business Development Manager - Building Materials, Hanwha Azdel Inc.; Rouzbeh Shahsavari, Assistant Professor, Rice University; Noel Dolan, Senior Manager of Product Marketing at Whirlpool’s WLabs; and Colin Barceloux, CEO, Axius. They discussed how the building industry needs to improve integrating their silos and applying lessons from other industries.

With a multitude of prominent clients in the home sector, BRUNNER has become proficient in the current building and home innovation trends, dominating conversations and future anticipations of the housing and building industries, among others. Gardinier said that BRUNNER’s experience “in real-world applications for innovation are a perfect match for what HIVE stands for - housing, innovation, vision and economics. It was a privilege to spend time with so many leaders in these areas.”

In addition to an expert group of panelists, the panel was also attended by residential, commercial design and construction industry marketers from around the country, all of whom contribute to the hub of business intelligence and data-driven insights that comprise HIVE. It was the perfect setting to share expertise in innovation in the home category.

Consequently, open innovation was the dominant, recurring theme throughout the conference. The building industry can’t innovate alone. Builders, architects, and designers need to look to outside partnerships and unbiased views that will create the future of this industry.
