BRUNNER, 84 Lumber Bring Home a Bronze Lion at the 2017 Cannes International Festival of Creativity
“The Journey” is awarded a Bronze Lion, shortlisted for another

Pittsburgh, PA (June 26, 2017) – 84 Lumber’s “The Journey” film, created by BRUNNER, won a Bronze Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The full film, first shown during Super Bowl LI in February, attracted international attention in January when FOX rejected its depiction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall for being too controversial. Since then, it was named AdWeek’s #1 Super Bowl commercial and its story of grit and determination became a lightning rod for discussion around advertising, corporate social responsibility, and equality.

“The Journey” won a Bronze Lion in the Film Craft category for Direction. The Film Craft Lions celebrate onscreen artistry that demonstrates exceptional filmmaking. This year, there were more than 2,400 entries in the Film Craft category and BRUNNER and 84 Lumber received one of the 103 Lions that were awarded.

The Bronze Lion continues a great month for BRUNNER. Chief Creative Officer Rob Schapiro was recently recognized as one of AdWeek’s “15 Chief Creative Officers Who Are Inspiring the Advertising of Tomorrow.”

“Winning a Lion is great recognition both for BRUNNER and for 84 Lumber. Without a true partnership between agency and client, work developed at the highest creative standards just doesn’t happen,” said Schapiro. “This sets a high bar for sure, but our people know it’s the kind of work we always strive to do. And with it, comes the results our clients expect.”

The Cannes Lions bring together advertising professionals from all corners of the world to celebrate the best work in creative communications. This was the only Lion awarded to a client or agency based in Pittsburgh.

These accolades come just weeks after taking home awards at the 2017 D&AD Awards, the 2017 One Show Awards and The A-List Hollywood Awards.
