To help drive engagement with ZippoEncore.com, Brunner launched a social media campaign in May 2009, and maintains it as part of a full contact program.
• We created music-themed Facebook and MySpace pages marking the company’s rock music ties and referencing ZippoEncore.com as well as Zippo Fest, the company’s first-ever rock festival.
• We included direct purchase opportunities on both Facebook and MySpace.
• We seeded friends and fans to boost momentum and acceptance.
• We have seeded and contributed to discussions about ZippoEncore.com in top music social media such as iLike, imeem, purevolume, Qloud, MOG, GarageBand, The Hype Machine, and others.
The face of our social media campaign is an avatar nicknamed, “Zippo Dude 1932,” who looks remarkably like the avatars users of ZippoEncore.com can create for themselves on the site.
